A practical compliance checklist for travel-day tracking
From defining “home base” to archiving exports—steps that pair well with a day-count app.
Start with scope: which countries and which years do you need to monitor this season? List visa limits, anticipated filing jurisdictions, and any employer reporting. That drives how granular your tracking must be.
Maintain chronological stays with no gaps you cannot explain. Gaps are fine if you were in international waters or intentionally not tracking a region—but note assumptions in a readme or comments field if your workflow allows.
Reconcile quarterly. Compare totals against passport stamps, boarding passes, or location history if you use them as secondary evidence. Fix discrepancies early.
Back up your workspace. Cloud sync helps, but an occasional PDF or CSV export preserves a snapshot if tools or accounts change.
Count My Stay helps you log stays and view totals by country and period. It does not provide legal or tax advice.
